"Kim Young Kwang and Sandara Park are reported to star in a web drama together. A representative revealed, "Kim Young Kwang is going to play the male lead role in the joint Korean-Chinese web drama 'Dr. Mo Clinic' with script by Lee Ah Ram and directed by Kwon Hyuk Chan (famous for Secret Garden, Lie to Me, A Gentleman's Dignity, Master's Sun)."
Kim Young Kwang will be playing a psychiatrist named 'Mo Ian' who specializes in treatment through hypnosis. His character meets a girl called 'So Dam', played by Dara, and through the process of treating and counselling her, he finds his own pain and problems being cured and treated.
Sandara Park will be playing the role of 'Lee So Dam', a 4-D office girl. She revealed, "As much as it's my first challenge in acting, I want to grow and learn working my way up slowly. I think the fact that it's a web drama is a particularly good thing since I can also share it with my overseas fans. I was interested since the character and myself are not all that different. I'm very nervous and pressured but I want to focus and do my best"
'Dr. Mo Clinic' will be broadcasted starting in the middle of March through Naver TV Cast in Korea and Youku in China. Filming begins in February."

ReplyDeleteBlame YG tbh. He waited too long. Anyways, I'm honestly so glad she's finally doing acting. I hope she brushed up on her acting skills while waiting though. I hope she does well! I don't really watch any kdrama because I think the acting isn't that well done (none have impressed me so far) but maybe I'll watch hers to support. Also, what does her face have to do with acting? I do not understand. You don't have to be pretty to be amazing at acting.

This "blame YG" mentality really needs to stop. He's not the only one that holds his idols back. They also have themselves to blame. Dara has said on many occasions that she's not confident in her acting abilities, hence, her "preferring" roles where she doesn't need lines.

True. How pretty your face is shouldn't have anything to do with acting skill but in Korea, looks are really important. They hold 'actors' above everyone else, and to say that someone has the face of an actor is like a huge compliment since 'idols' are apparently below them -,- I don't understand it either but that's how it works there...

I knew she had to be getting something going for this year when she was in that photoshoot with YG actors. It made no sense for her to be there, but now I realize why she was. ReplyDeleteI think fans just wanted a push by YG like how SM pushes Yoona (and Krystal, and Sulli etc), and JYP pushes Sulli. She wasnt confident, but would have done it if YG emcouraged ber to do so. Instead she was "forced" to promise she wi concentrate on 2ne1 solely before debut, and then literally stayed with no gigs and promotion exc 2ne1 when she had sooouch potential.

ReplyDeleteYou know, I didn't mean that YG was solely to blame but that's pretty much my fault for not being specific about it. If you think about it, as the CEO, he should also help by encouraging his artists to push out their boundaries; to step outside their metaphorical boxes that are holding them back. He could have helped her by doing that, as well as hiring acting coaches for Dara, etc (he may have done this, I don't fully know what he has contributed so correct me if I'm wrong).

I do feel bad for anyone who wants to pursue acting but can't due to their looks, most especially to those who have a gift when it comes to acting.

I hope Bom promotes in Japan if she is afraid to promote in Korea. The girl is not getting younger anymore and she should seek this opportunity of solo since 2ne1 would probably in hiatus. At least Minzy is still young so more opportunity still would come but Bom is reaching mid30s already LOL
