GD's constant change of hair color will one day make him go bald, and even then he's still going to make it work for him LOL his hairstyles always grow on me after a certain time. But I got to agree, blonde hair is perfect on him.

ReplyDeleteThat is a myth, hair dying doesn't cause (permanent) baldness or even complete baldness, especially not hair dyes and bleaches used today, they may dry out the hair and cause it to be extra permeable (won't hold colour) but baldness it will not.
ReplyDeleteAny baldness would be patchy and temporary. As he's shaved his head multiple times and allowed time for the roots to re-generate his hair should be generally quite healthy and robust as it's new, un-treated hair.
Ahh, thanks for telling me! I just thought it like that since GD has dyed his hair before as little as a few hours (MAMA 2013), and sometimes he does it in a week or so. I thought that it might at least thin his hair out a lot, and be more prone to his hair falling out. But I see what you're saying too. Thanks for pointing it out, as it helped me learn something I didn't know before.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sorry I do it every time I see someone post that myth. There is enough to worry about in life and its a reassurance or a reminder to frequent dyers to lay off and check the strength and ammonia content (if any) of their dyes.

Its the frequency rate and length of time that matters. Most people who've gone bald from dying have used strong chemicals with high ammonia, and probably frequently redone it over half a year or longer. Depending on the strength of their natural hair, the strength of the chemicals can vary how much each treatment can impact (or bring the person to baldness) I know women who've permanently ruined their hair from using dying products in the 60s/70s that didn't do frequently and then there are girls who use 'safer' products but still strong by todays standards frequently for 3-6 months and clumps of hair fall out- although for some it is also using extensions as well which damages the hair.
In Mama he bleached it and dyed it close together, but that's okay since people get bleaching and dying in one sitting. The red dye was permanent either so it was not very strong either because it was quickly a orangey-samon and he let it wash out gradually without redoing it, the same as he did with dying it red for Monster and during his Asia tour.
The most intense times for GD is when he perms or has it bleached. The perm he did for GD&TOP obvious fried his hair so bad and during his solo promotions when they 'touch-up the roots' to keep it blonde fairly regularly but even then he cuts his hair off quite fast and its only for 2-3 months. Often he puts hats on rather than re-dye his hair constantly so its not as intense and it seems. Plus Korea has quite a range of wash in and wash out dyes or hair crayons (how they did the rainbow craze in 2012) that don't really damage the hair so dying it or touching up is not so much the problem.
