  • October 28: Kim Jeong Joo (42), former CEO of Seunghwa Pretech, on trial for charges of embezzlement.  With one accomplice, Mr. Kang, charged with false disclosure of funds raking in an investment of 18.1 billion won and embezzling 2.4 billion won from the company.  Article briefly mentions that Kim Jeong Joo is the father of iKON's B.I. 1. [+100, -2]  He should pay the consequences of his crimes if he has any consideration for his son at all.  B.I's debut is coming up too... what is he supposed to do now

2. [+46, -1]  Wow but if you search up B.I's father, all the comments are either blocked or have disappeared...

3. [+9, 0]  Wow what has B.I done wrong just because of his father... I feel so bad for both him and the victims...

1. [+200, -52]  It's impossible to shield this... this just isn't right... how do you expect the victims to live and see B.I's face on TV

2. [+144, -31]  They scammed 18.1 billion won, got the investment and embezzled 2.4 billion won among that.  Now they're currently on trade suspension which only harms the ones below... Everyone be careful of stock exchanges... this scandal is an example.

3. [+166, -54]  Fans, don't even think about shielding this.

4. [+148, -49]  Wow..... from the looks of it, Yang Hongseok has escaped a sinking ship ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+105, -16]  I'm a fan of B.I but it's impossible to shield this.  Just don't... you'll understand if you think of it from their perspective.

6. [+114, -44]  There's been so many controversies with iKON even before their debut so I feel like it'll be difficult for them.  They were already getting heat from the public for Mix & Match being such a biased program... and now a scandal from their leader's father... they can't even dream of being the second Big Bang with this kind of image...

7. [+79, -18]  Before you think of the assailant's son, isn't the proper thing to do to think of the victims and their families first?  I can't believe the fans who are coming out here worrying about B.I first.

8. [+71, -14]  This should be up on the main page of Naver.

Well the upvotes are pretty low. It's a bad situation for all involved.

" they can't even dream of being the second Big Bang with this kind of image..." - Sorry for saying that, but BIGBANG members have many scandals...And k-netizens talk about like if B.I himself did that. Are you kidding me? lol

Just when IKon was about to debut in a few months... I have a feeling this will impact on their debut.

There are no bastard children, only bastard parents. Meaning, children should not feel hate for wrongs their parents have done.

B.I slept only a few hours, worked extremely hard and led his team to be as disciplined as him for more than 4 years. He did not grow up spoiled and dependent on wealth to carry him through his young life. Stop with the HATE! B.I is dealing with so much already.

Ninni said...

why bring BI here???
it's not his fault, the one who did that is his father.... blame the father not the son..
don't put hate on BI and he's just a frkn teen... smh

VIP_RockWithMe said...

Things will be fine, i think BI's father should receive the punishment he deserves but incorporating BI in this mess is wrong, the media is already having a party with this using his name on the headline even though he's not involved in the company. Personally, im happy that iKON is in YG, because they will do anything to make sure this doesn't affect the future prospects of the group. The company has bad time management and has an obsession with cruel survival shows but they will defend their artists to the very end. If that wasn't the case Psy and Epik High wouldn't have trusted them to help revamp their careers

shinwonhoar said...

The children don't deserve to be condemned because of their parents' doings. But then again, this is their Confucian belief we're talking about. Three Generations of Punishment, anyone? We can never make these people think otherwise no matter how twisted their belief may be. To each his own, right? Let's just hope the best for B.I and his sister.

Haha said...

If BI's dad pays for his crimes dutifully, then that's the best solution for his career as of now.

shortyyy22 said...

im sure the actual victims of this corporate crime are thinking about how little bi slept while they try to pick up the pieces of their life

Ignis Invictus said...

They don't have to think of it though because he has nothing to do with it.

Hanbin didn't returned home for almost 3 years now, busy composing & training for M&M and their upcoming debut.. HOW COULD YOU ALL BLAME THAT KID? HE'S 19, DO REALLY THINK HE KNOWS WHAT HIS DAD IS DOING?

Gdi*k said...

Oh My..........................................

What to do now?

I went to school and came back home open internet to see some breaking news like this the Woolim trainee too.

Why did his dad do like that? The kid is already in pressured. Now I wonder how he be able to handle this. be strong B.I

Feel bad for the victims too. Hope everything work out.

park sakura lopez said...

No child should ever pay for his or her parents' mistakes. It's wrong what he did but for BI to be dragged through it?? this kid worked so hard to get where he is now only to be ruined because of his father's fuck up?? naahh

sani said...

We all know, we should not involve BI in this whole issue but look from victim's side. The whole victim's family including their children must be going through hell. Just imagine victim's family members looking at BI enjoying all the name and fame. How would you feel if you were a victim not a fangirl of bi? Will your answer be same as above?

Namju said...

His son has nothing to do with it.

Ignis Invictus said...

By your logic, no child whose parent has done wrong has any right to pursue a dream and be successful in fear of being insensitive. In this same logic, no country or race who has participated in war crimes in the past should have successful citizens. NO.

The criminals should face the victims. The victims are worthy of justice. The people around them whose lives are not involved in making their decisions should not be punished.

sani said...

All these fangirls, DO YOU EVEN HAVE LITTLE BIT SYMPATHY TOWARDS THE VICTIMS WHOSE HARD EARNED MONEY GOT STOLEN!!! OR YOU ARE JUST GOING TO TALK ABOUT HOW BI DID NOT SLEPT, PRACTICED AND DIDN'T GO HOME BLA BLA BLA you guys really think his life is harder than those victim's family whose hard earned money was stolen? SMH

park sakura lopez said...

I feel for the victims but how do you think he feels now that literally everyone knows his father is a criminal??? he shouldn't have to stop his life just cause of his father's wrongdoings cuz he probably didn't even know

Wendy Hia said...

The 6 other innocent boys will be dragged down.. What if Ikon flops ?

park sakura lopez said...

I do and there's nothing wrong with people defending him. I can sympathize with both sides. It ain't that hard.

Bald Mr.Worldwide said...

If im the victim of his dad crime,i will.just wish his dad got the penalty and either him or someone from his family alq Hanbin to pay back me the money. He still can pursue his dream as long as i got my money back.

That's a No-No said...

B.I 's not the first or will be the last person to go with out sleep, work extremely hard for years and be under pressure to become an idol.(That's the path he chose.) Nothing in life is easy. Fans need to stop trying to get him simply. Because I'm pretty sure that the victims went without sleep too and worked extremely hard to earn that money. And now are still without sleep trying to figure out how to start over again. I'm putting myself in the victims shoes. I would be in rage if someone stole the money my parents worked so hard, for so long and someone just took it in minutes. Also seeing that person's son on t.v smiling enjoying life. Getting rich just by sitting there. And my parents back to square one.

guest said...

BI must be going through shit, so do those victims. Both of them don't deserve that because of some greedy men. But I know your answer will be different if you yourself were a victim in this whole thing. you guys should just stop talking about how he didn't sleep and did not go home etc. It is not even 1% of what those victim and family must be going through. I have seen my close relative gone through the same shit. Hope victims will get justice. As for BI, he is having a hard time but he will be fine. I think Yg is doing great job of protecting him as article was taken away as soon as it was posted. He knows very well how to handle these type of situation.

Ignis Invictus said...

I will leave you to your thoughts because I have no control over what and how you think. And in the same light, let me just be glad that your sense of justice is not the same as mine.

I have a question: was the father on trial while mix and match was still going on?

park sakura lopez said...

I've gone through hardships as well. My mother had to raise me and my two brothers after my father passed away and we had to move to a
new country. I've seen my mom suffer and that shit ain't easy.

"you guys should just stop talking about how he didn't sleep and did not go home etc."

What's so wrong with saying that? They're saying that in defense that he probably didn't know the shit his father did. And obviously, he's YG's golden boy and he had no fault in it, he's going to protect him.

I'm just saying I understand their anger. People become irrational when they're angry. Sense of justice?
Wouldn't you be mad as a parent if your money was stolen and your children are hungry, cold and suffering and the thief's child is eating well, wearing branded clothes and going on expensive family vacations while you have to tell your children you don't have enough money to buy food. In this sense I can understand them. I guess unlike you and B.I I wouldn't be able to "Let it go, Let it, let it go"

Amanda Rachel said...

Sigh! At times like this, people who hate on YG will take their golden chances to pick everything they can. Of course BI fans will comments about BI but I believe dat they worry about the victims too. They don't even back up BI father. They just feel bad for BI. Ps:- With this scandal + opening for BigBang Dome tour (limited time to practice & make songs), I don't think iKON will debut on January like YG always like to stress. [Also patiently wait for YG new gg uncertain debut date tho I'm scared wat will happen to our girl with Lovelyz's Jisoo scandal.]

Wow, this is sad news indeed. One hardship after another. I hope all this get settle down before their debut. I hate to see people use it against IKON. Like really, no matter what the victims are of both sides and everyone involved. You become one once you made yourself a part of this. Someone is hurt in the end because of the blame game. It's more difficult to keep hating than to let go and forgive. At least you are more content with life knowing the person who cause this mess is caught. Don't go making more people victims from revenging your own too because karma goes both way.

Just WHAT THE HELL?! Nobody is saying that his life is harder than the victims'. They're just pointing out that he's having a hard time as well...it's really not that hard or surprising to feel bad for both the victims & B.I. And people have sympathy & brain. They know that it's plain awful to wish someone who doesn't do anything wrong or harmful to suffer just because of their father fault. And no,not all people feeling bad for B.I are fangirls.. I don't even like him. He's just that leader kid from Team B. and what? Why should people have to "defend" B.I. when he didn't do anything remotely wrong? They're not defending him, they're just using their brain & saying that he doesn't deserve punishment for anything he didn't do.

Nova_REMIX said...

Nova_REMIX said...

So the child of the father who embezzled them should forget their dreams and constantly live in debt to the victims and should not try to find success in their own life. The child of a criminal should suffer for the wrongdoings of the parent?

merp said...

And why would it be Hanbin who should stay away from the TV? As if he himself had any say in what his father had done in the past. Hell, he probably didn't even know. He might be disappointed and hurt right now, why would he be put on blame for his father's mistakes? I feel bad for the victims, I really do, but why is it necessary to make it seem like Hanbin is a bad guy? It's his father's fault. The victims wouldn't probably even be mad that B.I is debuting if his father paid back. I really hope this gets fixed soon, his father should pay back.

merp said...

Yeah lol of course. Stop spreading false info.

merp said...

So basically you're saying that because of his father's mistakes he shouldn't be living his own life, shouldn't chase after his childhood dream? If I were a victim, I wouldn't give two flying shits on who is on tv or not, all I would care for is for the CRIMIMAL to give me back my money.

merp said...

Something I always loved about YG, even when I used to be a SM-stan. YG seems to respect their privacy well and always protects their artists. People can nag all they want about for example GD or Bom, but YG still takes care of them instead of throwing them under a bus.

Nah, WINNER had a solid debut even though Taehyun's iljin rumors came out. iKON will make it, YG protects his artists well.

merp said...

ikr, as if he would ever know about his father's criminality when he's busy chasing after his dreams for his own life. he shouldn't be the one getting blamed. if anything, he is the second victim.

Looking at Bi perspective its obvious he will be the one that taking care of his family atm and becoming the head for his family. If guilty his father had to face the consequences and serve his time but in all honesty this is a very sad situation :(

It takes two hands to clap, the victim should have thought twice than to easily hand over their money. In my country, so many people get cheated, easily giving out their bank password to strangers acting as bank's staff over the phone and losing all their life savings. Sad as it is but you can't deny the fact the victims are so gullible. If they had invested their time finding out the authencity of the investment other than then trying for easy money, then they wouldn't have been cheated. Source? A history of not being easily cheated.

Jamilah Bte Hamzah said...

I don't know why people want BI to be out, if I was the victim, I would rather he be successful and pay back the money his family owe to me. We all know majority of the knetz are not the victims, just people who have nothing to do with their lives

小J said...

Although I am not a big fan of B.I, I personally feels sorry for him. He works so hard just to achieve his dream. Moreover, Team B went through so many obstacles until they finally get the chance to debut next year as iKON, yet this kind of bad thing happens. Their debut will definitely be at stake.

If the victims were to blame B.I for what his father did, it will be similar to the following made-up scenario:

B.I's father hits XYZ's car (while B.I is working, not knowing anything) and runs away. XYZ's car is severely damaged. XYZ blames B.I's father. However, XYZ also does not want to see B.I lives happily ever after because he is related to the culprit. XYZ cannot afford to see B.I driving another luxurious car because his own car is damaged by B.I's father.

This is why it does not make any sense to me when people blame B.I for his father's offense. I totally understand that people will think irrationally when they are having hard times, but why blaming someone who knows nothing about what his father did?

Nova_REMIX said...

I read your comments. Yeah, I feel for the families too, but punishing the child gets NO WHERE. You haven't clarified your stance as to whether B.I should get punished or not and he wouldn't deserve it anyway. He shouldn't have to pay for the sins of his father.

j_joongie said...

Hurting B.I's career won't fix anything for the victims. It's only going to ruin another life. B.I is innocent in all of this. Of course fans are thinking of the victims, but we're trying to protect someone who's not even involved in the matter from getting drawn in and hurt by something that wasn't even his fault. Yes, it's unfair on the victims and their children, and it's understandable that they'll make irrational demands in their grief, but B.I's hard work is his own. His achievements as an artist and composer are his alone. His father didn't help him with any of that. He didn't benefit unfairly from his father's wealth, other than being provided with the clothes on his back and food to eat, which any good parent would provide for their kid. Saying that B.I needs to suffer for his father's crime is the same as saying his 3 year old sister, Hanbyul, needs to suffer. They're both equally innocent, and they both had no choice of who their parents are. People seem to think its okay to hurt B.I out of revenge, but they forget that he's just a kid who did nothing wrong. If I were in the victim's shoes, I would be furious as well. But hurting B.I isn't the answer, and it won't solve their problems, only hurt another innocent life.

j_joongie said...

When it comes down to it, it really is that simple when determining whether to involve B.I in all this or not. He hasn't done anything wrong except be born as this man's son. Taking out revenge on the family members is wrong, and never will be okay, no matter how grief stricken the victims are.

j_joongie said...

This is much more serious than some bullying rumours. I hope YG deals with this situation carefully. Even though B.I isn't to blame, it's still going to affect him, so I hope everything works out well for iKON and the victims get their justice. The person I feel most badly for though, is Hanbyul. Her life is going to become so much harder now because of what her father did. She's only 3 years old, but when she starts school, unfortunately some other kids are going to take things out on her. The world really is unfair...

Zulaika Popal said...

I agree B.I has nothing to do with what his father goes around doing.

May God bless B.I and help him and his family face this problem, and i dont know the recent flow of his dad's case but i also feel sorryy for those "victims" .. Let's just not put the blame for an innocent 19y.o B.I and for those whose been using this issue to criticize B.I as his career is growing, and to stop him from doing his passion , i beg you to have a kind heart and go pray for your sins instead of pulling out someone's dream.

MA said...

I really feel bad for B.I i mean he's very talented in all sorts but because of his father's wrong doing his career is getting affected also the fact that he holds title for his members. I hope they'll resolve this issue. iKON already have been through a lot and they havent debut yet.

Its not BI who did wrong I hope people wouldnt hate him. The kid is very talented. Dont let the wrong doings of his father affect the fact that he does have something special to show to people. It's not like his father is going to be the one who'll compose songs, will sing and dance. Give the person a chance.

Ps. Please dont hate me.
