[Instiz] The top directors behind YG artists' music videos

SEO HYUN SEUNG
"The director when it comes to songs with fierce concepts.  There's a lot of hidden objects behind the music videos he directs so make sure to keep an eye out for them.  Below are only a few of his works since there's so many he's worked on."

HAN SA MIN
"Have I mentioned that I love this director?  The amazing imagery and camera work seem to be made by the Gods.  But it's not just that.  You must analyze his music videos too.  Have you seen the interpretation for 2NE1's 'Missing You' music video?  It's incredible."

YONG IH
"He only sometimes works on YG's music videos but this time he directed two for Akdong Musician.  They don't call him a 'genius' for nothing.  You'll know why when you watch his videos."

DEE SHIN (SHIN DONG GEUL)
"The director that made me want to write this post.  A new director YG has chosen for their videos recently, her videos are so amazing.  Regardless of the genre, I hope to see more of her work."

"Not a music video, but I love these teasers."

"YG has worked with a lot of directors like Cha Eun Taek, Hong Jong Ho, Kim Hye Jung, Jo Soo Hyun, Lee Gi Baek, Jang Jae Hyuk but I've just chosen four of the most recent and/or directors that worked with them the most."

[1] "I honestly think that Seo Hyun Seung is one of the best directors in Korea."

[2] "I've never really thought much but how nice their music videos or teasers are but now that I look at this list, these directors are really impressive."

[3] "I always loved YG's imagery when it came to the music videos."

[4] "I love Seo Hyun Seung's work.  YG makes music videos really well and they choose the right music too."

[5] "Love Song's music video location is about a man singing at the site of the accident where he lost his lover..."

[6] "I like a lot of YG artists' music videos especially the hidden stories behind them."

[7] "Seo Hyun Seung is a genius.  He's the best of the best."

[8] "At first there was talk that Seo Hyun Seung would be working on Winner's music video so a lot of fans thought they were going to debut with a 'strong, fierce concept' but they debuted with 'Empty'.  ㅋㅋㅋ It was very different from the music video concepts he's worked on in the past."

[9] "I can't pick between them since I love all of their works."

[10] "I love Dee Shin.  She worked on Winner's teaser as well but if you think of YG, it's Seo Hyun Seung that comes to mind first!"

When it comes to music quality and video YG is really the best. Still bum that their MV was not aknowledge at MAMA but then YG stans are not the most devoted in streaming MV.

Me too! I was totally hoping it was what their MV would look like b/c although the MVs for Empty and Color Ring aren't bad lbr this teaser was a lot more unique

This teaser was directed by Ziyong + Ian (Fantazy Lab) https://vimeo.com/97842362. Ziyong also directed Mino - I'm Him MV + 2NE1 comeback home with DeeShin. I also like lot of WINNER's Teasers by DeeShin. I think the Welcoming DVD & opening WWIC 2015 is by her too.

The thing i love about yg is that they respect the fans and audience enough to put out music videos with actual content and symbolism. They produce art from beginning to end.

imo, YG's music video are definitely worth it. even better than some of American music video. i hope CL will use korean director for her US debut. because that's what make her different there

I need to know who directed 2ne1's "gotta be you" MV because that was not yg quality and yes I'm still bitter about it lol

Conclusion: I love YG MVs

Who directed GD Coup d'état? That MV was one of the best I have ever seen in Kpop. It had so many hidden messages that everytime you watched it you saw something new. That person deserves a 100 awards.

i still wish that teaser song was a release.

Lol, its so so so bad mv. Look like basic mv with rainbow box and weird jeremy scott costume

Riyadh Prawiryo Att said...

I hope CL will use korean director with strong concept. Maybe for CL's us debut will use 2 or 3 title song with many genre, strong/badass, rnb style and maybe some ballad

Who is director for 2ne1's i love you and gd's heartbreaker?

Which one is the second cbh vid?

The unlplugged ver! YG aka as*hole scrapped the fourth mv the girls were supposed to have!
You can read it in the cmh mv director interview, she said they did towm mvs for both vers, but he scrapped them and they made it into one, she sounded bitter about it ( or maybe it was me reading it with my bitter-goggles)

Paloma Cavazos said...

Oh the one that never happened? Lol

namooosah . said...

They actually filmed it ughhhhhhhhhhh

Conclusion: no matter what director, i'll always end up loving the video. They did an amazing job. Missing You was a video that got me to tears. I lost my Uncle the day before the video came up, and i remember watching later... The tears were everywhere. Such a beautiful song... I don't think i can watch it without crying.

Paloma Cavazos said...

what? Really? How do you know?

namooosah . said...

In the director's interview, she she talked about it, she said they filmed two mvs but YG said make it into one. i can't looks for the looks i'm on my phone and it gets messy whenever i leave the page >~< sorry

namooosah . said...

**look for the links

Gosh this phone is hopeless

notamonster said...

the come back home mv is a mixture of both versions. the drama part when dara is acting is the unplugged version.

Yellow said...

There was actually a rumor that Seo Hyun Seung and YG are freemasons. Lol

I remember it was that the guy thinks that the girls or cl will love him if he was like giving them money and gifts but they hate that although they or she still loves him . But yeah it could've been better .
