GD&Taeyang Pair Up with Kwanghee for Infinity Challenge Music Festival

Source: MyDaily via Naver

1. [+4124, -788] Why can't GD and Taeyang see.......

2. [+3694, -1086] Of all music festivals to have Kwanghee,,,

3. [+3557, -964] Inviting GD and Taeyang and pairing them with Kwanghee is too much...

4. [+3171, -846] Kwanghee kept pulling them...ah, let go

5. [+3046, -912] I wonder how long Taeho PD will keep Kwanghee afloat? ㅋㅋㅋ Work hard, GD & Taeyang~ ㅋㅋㅋ

6. [+974, -101] Every time GD goes to the music festival he's number one, and if he gets number one with Kwanghee he really deserves praise

7. [+1003, -152] It feels like the other members would have too hard of a time with Kwanghee and so GD and Taeyang were sacrificed...

8. [+915, -73] I think Taeyang really wanted to be paired up with Hyungdon

9. [+966, -191] Ah...Can I curse? What sins have GD and Taeyang committed?...Ah.....You all saw Kwanghee sing, right? There's no solution...After the music festival, are you going to the military??

10. [+803, -93] If Kwanghee really is a singer, he should practice more...

They need to Lay off Kwanghee, make your judgments after you've seen the performance and not before.

Its incredibly funny how people dont see it was scripted all along lol Kim Taeho PD knows what he is doing so well. Kwanghee's spot is still so weak within the cult fandom of IC, on top of that rumor that his agency spread the rumours of past controvercial things JDM said in order to secure the spot for Kwanghee. GD is extremely close with this PD, his participation in IC in 2011 completely reversed the "druggie GD" image back to what it was, a lot of Koreans actually believe Gd owns half of his career to IC lol. So PD-nim is pulling out his golden card and putting GDYB with Kwanghee in order to give Kwanghee his own fandom with their help. Its well thought and precisely planned marketing/pr strategy. Infinity Challenge has a God status in Korea, MBC or PD wouldnt allow even a slightest hinder into their reputation.

The knetz going overboard with their hate on Kwanghee. What kind of witch hunt is this?
So if SM bribe stations to cast Yuta, Yuta should be hate upon? I mean i only judge objectively that Yuta is too young to be in a discussion show, i won't hate him for what SM is bribing.

Kwanghee actually has a decent singing voice, he just heard that he can't sing too many times that now he isn't confident and just makes a joke about it

"A lot of Koreans actually believe Gd owns half of his career to IC". I would say it's more like "A lot of Koreans think Gd only bounced back to stardom because of IC". Not sure how you could say he owes his career to IC when his resume is far more impressive than his appearance on IC. IC gave him a platform to bounce back, and he made it work. It's not as if GD just appeared on IC and everyone started to like him. He made them like him by acting certain ways and teaming up with Hyungdon.

I agree most of your opinions but the others are just too ignorant LOL "druggie gd" happened after gd appeared on IC in 2011. Sure lots of Koreans have already regarded gd as a member of IC but saying half of his career owns to it is way too much. Koreans respect gd for his talent in music and achievements in fashion. Most articles related to those two things abt gd get 5000+ upvotes with positive comments. They are just not got translated LOL

But again I agree on your main point. Gd is Taeho' s golden card. And I actually like KH. Looking forward to what they would come up with

My bad, I meant the one GD partnered with Jung Hyungdon, not the 2011 with PMS. "A lot of Koreans" doesnt equal to ALL Koreans. Some people, like me for example, who live in Korea and a long time fan, know better; some people dont. His appearance in 2013 was a game changer of his "druggie" image. GD's public appeal was literally reborn in a positive way due to that guesting.

I wasnt seeking for an approval or agreement, just stated my opinion. But next time you might want to check with them one more time before calling out on ignorance.

commedesfuckdown said...

Half of his career was obviously an exaggeration, but thats exactly my point. People who live outside of Korea wont get the IC deal unless they experience it themselves, thats how A LOT (not ALL) of Koreans think about GD's guesting in IC, that it literally "saved" him. Thats how much of a big change it brought to his public image. We as fans know its not entirely true, but thats how non fans see it.

bluecornfield said...

Well sorry for the heavy word. I took it back. If you mean the IC in 2013 then I agree. It was a image saver for gd. IC always benefits gd a lot. Hope this year would be the same as before

This is not witch hunting standards, this is just complaining because so far a significant portion of the IC fandom has not accepted him and are annoyed that GDYB who are some of the main attractions this season are being partnered with the guy they least want to see. Really they're just responding to how poorly Kwanghee has been in their eyes so far, if he improves and meets standards they would lay off.

But, it means there are high stakes, GD since his #1 place with an IC song is at stake, Kwanghee failing on this will put him in a bit more of a slump in popularity - the PD might even reconsider his place on the cast if it continues to go down. These factors make them a interesting group for the drama and the couple with the biggest challenge.

SM is (thankfully) not involved here but people will always resent people who they feel are average getting places that normally have higher standards than they are displaying because of perks off the system. If the people meet the standard there is no problem but if they fall short than the criticism will be harsher and will mention their 'free ride' or 'support'. It happens with everyone and more so in a society with such competitive attitude to achieve and earn you place- those that by-pass it because someone is rich or underhand will be scrutinised.

Was it not his appearance in 2012 as the kid of the Boss in Infinity Company that first stomped down much of the 'druggie' comments even before the love line with Hyeong Don in which that really got an incredible amount of endearment off the public.
I was seeing more positivity about GD even in 2012, as much for OOAK which was really well liked as well as IC and almost no 'druggie' comments except on the persistent Nate and the childish Pann but those antis were being called out. Maybe it was different on the street.
I thought 2013 helped GD more with selling Coup detat was was relatively under promoted as people were not as aware the second half of the album was released and it was more through the festival that kept GD and his music afloat. the second appearance probably helped stomp out the remaining 'druggie' comments but I thought it was happening before 2013. I'm probably wrong but that was my feel.

commedesfuckdown said...

Music wise, Alive's success was already a proof that GD or Bigbang dont need to seek for public's appeal anymore, let alone OOAK or Coup D'etat successes. People will take their music as it is, good music, no matter what. But public popularity is so different, and IC's range of viewers and its general impact is really unrivaled in Korea. U are right, by 2013, things werent as harsh as 2011, but still, the IC guesting did miracles for his "public" image.

commedesfuckdown said...

I am 100% sure they will find a way to feature Kwanghee somehow. The IC festival itself is all about the process anyway. We will get a lot laugh and new music, Kwanghee will get more popularity, IC will overall gain its reputation one more time. Fair game, I would say lol

commedesfuckdown said...

Its all good!! Pretty sure it will be even better this year since last year's daesang collector Taeyang is there with his new "composer" title lol Kim PD is just so smart, adding YB to the team gives such a fresh idea

Jussy McCarthy said...

Ah, thank you for replying. So Music image is even more distinct from public image than I thought- and I suppose it is why so many positive comments get framed by a negative about him. Oh well.

Yeaaa... isnt kwanghee and bom closed friend? Wish YG let her out of dungeon.. ;A;

This is such a ridiculous conspiracy theory comment, lol. Who else were they going to partner with? GD would never want to pick the same partner twice, as much as people want him with YJS it wasn't going to happen with him having promised to work with JYP, and HaHa would honestly be boring because they're friends already and there would be no element of having to learn to work together or learn about each other. So that leaves Kwanghee or Junha, and between the two of them, Kwanghee is far and away the better choice.

The producers probably did have a say in it, but it wasn't more or less of a say than any of the other matchups, and nobody forced GD or Taeyang into it. There's no golden card here - if anything this has just bothered people who already dislike Kwanghee and are making the three of them a target with GD's past scandals by putting them all in one place. MAYBE... they wanted to work with the cast member their own age? :OOOO Shocking.

commedesfuckdown said...

Okay! U, of course, entitled to ur own opinion. I didnt shove it your throat

patricia augustine said...

I agree with u! They will find a way to match with Kwang Hee.. Somehow I think Kwang Hee did have something that he never show before.. Who knows if Kwang Hee really can sing but get overshadowed by other member.. He always known as being MC, comedian but not as a singer..

"Its incredibly funny how people dont see it was scripted all along lol" is very patronizing of you, putting down people who don't share YOUR opinion (which is JUST an opinion, put together but your wild assumptions that you have no way of knowing are even remotely true). It goes both ways.
